For Women’s Club of Milton members, making Valentine’s Day cards is a favorite annual event.

COVID-19 restrictions didn’t stop them from making smiles happen in the community. Members voted unanimously to continue the tradition and make festive cards this year.

More than 300 individually designed Valentine’s Day cards were delivered to community residents through organizations such as Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth, PeachTree Health Group – Brain Injury Rehabilitation, CHEER’s Sand Hill Adult Day Program, the Salvation Army Developmentally Disabled program and People’s Place group home for girls.

Mary Kay Williams, a club member made individual Valentine supplies that contained blank notecards with envelopes, Valentine embellishments and festive paper. She left them in a yard basket for pickup to keep contact between members at a minimum. Each member was given a week to create their own unique Valentine cards. Once completed, the cards could be returned to their packets and were ready for delivery.

The activity was enjoyed by all, but they would like to be able share it with each other next year.

The Women’s Club of Milton is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, one of the world’s oldest and largest women’s service organizations dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service. Each club has its own agenda and works on programs and projects that address the needs of its community.
