Truck Overturns, Dumping Tons of Dirt on Road Near Fashion Valley Mall – NBC 7 San Diego

For those who use Friars Street for holiday shopping, it was a little more difficult for them to do so on Tuesday.

According to a San Diego police officer, a large truck carrying dirt near Fashion Valley Mall was tipped over just before 3 p.m., and dumped between 10-35 tons of soil onto the road near the entrance of state Route 163 north.

Sky Ranger 7 flew overhead and saw the truck tipping over, blocking eastbound lanes for turning onto state Route 163 north. It was apparent that the vehicle was heading west and was turning left onto the ramp at a high speed. The vehicle flipped over.

The scene was cleared by 6:30 p.m. after SigAlert was cancelled and cleaned up by crews of clean-up workers and a tow truck.
