MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee fashion designerThis is the trip of your dreams! Therese Marie Jones was chosen to exhibit her work at the Paris Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris.
Carole Meekins from TMJ4 spoke to her just before her big trip.
Carole: Milwaukee is not a hub. fashion designTo continue on to Paris fashionThis week, can you tell us how you did that Therese?
Therese Marie: I just give my heart and soul to the city and do a lot. I’ve been to New York, all over the country, and then to Paris when the Paris Olympics came around. fashionWeek was approaching, so I applied and was placed in the showThey said, “We would like to have you in Milan too!” It would be great to do both! I’m all for it! Sign me up. I’m there!
Carole: You have clothing for all sizes. Why is that important?
Therese Marie: I am a tailor and have been here for many years. My shop is called Therese Tailoring Boutique. I’ve been working with women all shapes and sizes for many decades. When I first launched my business, fashionbrand that I also thought was important, and to showThis is also true for the runway. So, I have sizes zero to four on the runway.
Carole: Carole, I think a lot of the time when we think about fashionWe think of sizes zeros and twos. You know that it doesn’t cover everyone. I think everyone wants to look good.
Therese Marie says: I dress people for special occasions, red carpets, and birthdays. Everyone wants to feel good. It’s very important to me that everyone feels good, comfortable, looks good, and that they feel great.
Carole: Carole, I am very impressed. I thank you for being able at least to represent Milwaukee well.
Therese Marie: I’m Milwaukee’s only person who will be there show, and a black African American designerIn the showI was a part of both shows so I’m really, really excited about that.
Carole: Carole, how did you find the creativity and confidence to understand that I could do this? I can go out there!
Therese Marie, One of the first steps to conquering fear is facing it. Once that’s done, the sky’s your limit – there’s no ceiling. It’s a passion of mine. I love creating and making people feel amazing. That helped me face my fears, and now I’m on a big stage and platform.
Carole: Therese – Do you have any secrets to share with those who might be a little bit shy? fashionAre they willing to share their ideas on how to improve their looks?
Therese Marie, You can always find a great tailor. A good tailor can help you add something. You can do something new with the fabric. You can change the cut, style and color. Add some fringe or sequins to your look. Have fun!
