I have a nice camera that has a decent zoom but my surf breaks are too far away from shore to capture and a waterproof housing would be prohibitive. Divers, paddlers, swimmers, and anglers who want to document your adventures — take note: the AxisGO is a great solution.
After some research, the phone camera quality is amazing. I found a variety of phone housings that can protect your phone from water-related accidents. I researched the various options and found the best. AxisGOThe best deal in an affordable price range seemed to be the best, so I ordered a case and cover for my iPhone 13.
I live in Hawaii and spend my days in the ocean. Although I’ll give any water sport a try, my staples are surfing, standup paddling, snorkeling, and free diving.
In short: When I was in the market for a housing, I was looking for something that wasn’t too bulky to swim with during surfing and diving. It had to be rated at a decent depth so I could dive in shallow water and enjoy scuba diving adventures. The AxisGO I was happy with the price ($179 and above). Here’s how it performed.
AquaTech AxisGO Housing Review
How to Use a Waterproof Housing
The AxisGO 13 is a specific iPhone model. It works with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro. (AxisGO currently offers models for the iPhone XR and 11, 12 and 13, with the 14 soon to follow.)
You simply need to insert your phone in the case. If you have an iPhone 13 Pro, first insert your phone into the case. The iPhone 13 waterproof housing has access to all three lenses and the glass lens port can be scratch-resistant.
The housing features a rear touch screen membrane that allows for full touch-screen accessibility. You can use your favorite apps and take selfies. You can also instantly send photos to your contacts. The AxisGO 13 supports all the latest features on the iPhone, including Macro, Cinematic Mode and RAW capture.
There are mounting points on the bottom of the housing to attach the Bluetooth pistol grip, and threads on the front to attach your dome. Both of these accessories are available.
When buying the AxisGOYou have the option of purchasing the housing, a complete kit, or individual accessories. Accessories available are the AxisGO Dome,The Bluetooth pistol grip, Dome cover, Cleaning and scratch removal kitAnonymous action mounting kit, Protective case, and Sport leash. The dome lets you take stunning over/under photos, and the Bluetooth pistol grasp allows you snap photos at the touch of a button.
The AxisGO: Testing the waters
It feels strange to take your phone into the water, but the AxisGO housing makes it feel safe. I don’t usually like the complexity of the setup, but the AxisGO was easy to use. The website even has videos to help you understand all of its features.
I like that you simply put your phone in the case, snap it shut, and you’re ready to go. The snap makes it easy for you to know when your phone has been fully secured.
The touch screen doesn’t work as well as if your phone weren’t in the case, but you are able to access everything. It works great, and it is cheaper than other options. Many lower-price waterproof cases won’t have this touch screen feature.
I’m not usually one to purchase add-ons, but the accessories offered by AxisGO definitely enhanced the experience. The Bluetooth pistol grip made it easy for me to hold onto the housing while swimming or diving. It also made it simple to click the button to take photos.
The dome also allows you to take underwater/overwater photos, which I found really cool. I also am a fan of the sport leash because the housing is not buoyant, so it’s important to make sure your phone and housing stay in hand.
There are many waterproof housing options available, with prices ranging from $350 to $500. They have better depth rates (30-40m), but they also cost more. We would have liked to see the AxisGO have a higher depth rate. It is a great choice for now because of its 10m depth rate, cost, and performance.
Is the AxisGO Home right for you? This housing is priced at $179-219 (or less than 200 dollars if you have an iPhone XR 11, 11 or 12, but it’s still very affordable). It is certainly cheaper than a GoPro, or any other camera. Olympus Tough Underwater camera,Other housing optionsIf you take your phone out on the water with no protection (and drop it), it will cost you less than buying a new one.
Overall, I’m a big fan of this housing case! It has all the features that I need. It offers fun, compatible accessories, and it’s easy to use. In future models, I hope they’ll improve the depth rating so users can take it on deeper dives. I’m excited to take the AxisGOI plan to continue my underwater photography training and get out more often.
