In our country, menstrual hygiene was a taboo subject. It is clear that things have changed a lot in the past few years. Celebrities have been speaking out about the topic and stories related to menstruation have been brought to life on the silver screens. It’s no surprise that people are more comfortable discussing it than they were in the past. Despite all of this, awareness of menstrual hygiene is vital, especially in remote parts of the country, where women must struggle to find even the most basic amenities.

Some people take it upon themselves to effect change in this direction, and Delhi-based one of these individuals is fashion designerPriyal Bhardwaj. Priyal has assumed the responsibility of raising awareness in rural girls in Pratapgarh districts. According to a TOI report, designerSangini Saheli is also run to dispel any misconceptions about menstruation. Her bravery and thoughtfulness encourages women, both menstruating and not, to speak openly about their feelings. The designerIt is strongly believed that women should be aware of it more and feel safer and more comfortable.

Priyal believes that more can be done to ensure women have access to sanitary products. Her organization has distributed over 5 lakh sanitary pads throughout the country. Many rural women still struggle to find sanitary pads. This makes them more likely to use less hygienic options, which often leads to illness. Many women don’t know what sanitary pads are. Priyal, through her organization, is trying to educate people about menstrual hygiene. She hopes to make many lives easier by sharing knowledge and making women aware that they don’t have to be ashamed of their periods.
