From planet Earth to Venus and back: this is the distance that each love letter will travel before reaching its recipient after six months on board the International Space Station and 100 million kilometers of travel. An unprecedented event made possible by the special initiative launched by Adopt a boy, which next November, for the first time in history, will send 1000 love letters in space aboard the Falcon 9 rocket’s SpaceX – the project born from the mind of Elon Musk.
The space writing kit
The most beautiful letters, selected by a jury from among those uploaded to the dedicated online platform www.adottaunragazzo.it/cosmic, will be secured in protective packaging and shipped to Cape Canaveral, the American space base from which it also departed Apollo 11 before landing on the moon on July 16, 1969. After the period in orbit and after the release of the Dragon capsule, all letters will land in the Atlantic Ocean, will be recovered by a team of experts and delivered to the address indicated by the sender together with a official travel certificate.
