Beauty news, hair and makeup trends, but above all a lot attitude. There was a lot of preening at this season’s Milan Fashion Week shows, almost as if to evoke a sense of challenge towards the world events in progress. This was felt in parted hairstyles on one side of Fendi, Giorgio Armani and Valentino, after this hairlook was “archived because old” on TikTok a week earlier. And it stood out again in the graphic and intense eyes of Moschino and Max Mara. It was also felt in the shades of e-girl of Dolce & Gabbana and in the nonconformist science fiction references of Salvatore Ferragamo.

Elsewhere, minimal makeup has pleaded the cause of natural beauty, and the fringe-mania of the
last season it took over again, in almost every fashion show. Here, then, are the
beauty news and hair trends, best makeup from the fashion shows of Milan Fashion Week autumn winter 2021.

1. The trend: one side row

Where we saw it:

Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, Valentino, Zanini, Giorgio Armani

What you need to know:

Last month, a group of teens gathered on TikTok to announce the end of the line
on one side – condemning it to the style of “old ladies”. Fortunately, the legendary hairstylist
Guido Palau disagrees with this thought, putting it in the foreground for Fendi. The hair styled to the side and locked with clips made the style young and fresh. Same thing from Valentino, who proposed it on bobs of different lengths, and from Alberta Ferretti, where it was underlined by an asymmetrical gathered hairstyle. Don’t believe everything you see on TikTok.

2. The trend: graphic eye makeup

What you need to know:

‘Accentuate your eyes’ is a message that we have often heard recently, consequent
to the obligation of masks. And with so much inspiration from this season’s shows, it shouldn’t be too hard. Take a cue from the historic collaborator of Moschino, Kabuki, which gave a personal touch to the old Hollywood charm for the maison, with intense black lines around the eyes and eyeliner White. Or take a look at Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini, with graphic features and curled hair that gave a certain solemnity and avant-garde to nostalgic high school looks.

3. The trend: long bangs

What you need to know:

Again, we have seen the bangs of all shapes and sizes at the Milanese fashion shows. Electric blue and pink micro-fringes bubblegum by Dolce & Gabbana; tight natural curls for Marni; eye height fringes from Tod’s and Emilio Pucci, and long by Salvatore Ferragamo. And then Valentino.

Where we saw it:

Prada, Ports 1961, Zanini

What you need to know:

When we think of back hair, summer immediately comes to mind – one way
simple and elegant of take your hair off your face. But here is the trend rethought for the winter at the Milanese fashion shows. Take Port 1961, for example, where gelled hair was pulled back into tight chignon to create a clean look, perfect for both day and night. Or Prada, which she styled sections of hair over her ears to create an effect elf and put an almost subcultural accent. And finally Zanini, with its very neat side rows
youthful and feminine.

5. The trend: minimal makeup

Where we saw it:

MSGM, Marni, Alberta Ferretti

What you need to know:

It was refreshing to see minimal makeup on the runways this season. A celebration of the
natural beauty, simple and to identify with. And that’s exactly what the world has
need in this worldwide lockdown: to be able to to chill out and feel comfortable with yourself

6. The trend: firm lips

Where we saw it:

What you need to know:

The surprise element at Milan Fashion Week came from lip makeup. Forget classic reds and seductive berry nuances this season, Dolce & Gabbana took a cue from the e-girl tribes on TikTok, preferring the shades of electric blue and green. Elsewhere, there have been subtle hints of science fiction in the silver lips outlined by Salvatore Ferragamo.
