At Paris Fashion Week, Gabriela Hearst debuts with a collection in perfect balance between past and sustainability, and relaunches the Edith it bag, also offering it in a vintage version

The parade Fall Winter 2021 2022 of Chloé was highly anticipated for two reasons: the debut of the new creative director of the brand Gabriela Hearst, and the hypothetical return, announced by the launch of a bag with a lock – the Aby – of the famous it bag Chloé Paddington. But today, at Paris Fashion Week the protagonist, to a great surprise, was another bag: the Edith. Launched more or less simultaneously with the Chloé Paddington, in the early 2000s, too this it bag was loved by the stars, and will undoubtedly make the most nostalgic bag addicts happy.

“My first luxury bag was the Chloé Edith bag and it’s a piece that I still love and to which I wanted to pay homage”, said Gabriela Hearst, whose debut at Chloé coincides with the centenary of the brand’s foundation.

This season the famous Edith bag has been reinterpreted according to the new trends on the catwalk, but always remaining faithful to its original design. It is, in fact, still exactly as it used to be, with its vintage school bag allure, the iconic leather tongue and the small front pocket with buckles.

The new Edith family includes bags in recycled cashmere or with recycled jacquard and is offered in mini, tote or ‘doctor bag’ versions. Alongside this re-edition, 50 vintage Edith bags were also launched which have been enriched with advanced materials from the production of the new garments. “Each piece is unique”, explains the designer who for this collection has focused everything on sustainability. “The new is not always better”.
