Tina Fey and Amy Poehler ai Golden Globe 2021
They are two of the most loved and feared goddesses in Hollywood because for the comedy couple formed by Tina Fey, 50, and Amy Poehler, 49, no celebrity is really safe, especially when they find themselves conducting one of the most prestigious stars and stripes awards, the Golden Globes ceremony (broadcast live on Sky Atlantic in the night between 28 February and 1 March at 00.30 and on Sky Tg24 at 1.00, on digital terrestrial channel 50 and on demand on NowTV). Not that it is the first time, of course, but certainly the 2021 edition holds many challenges, starting with run together but at a distance: Tina Fey in New York and Amy Poehler in Los Angeles. This thin red line connects The Rainbow Room restaurant in Manhattan to the Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and then connects all the nominees and award-winners from their homes, a practical and safe alternative to the usual red carpet.
This dynamic two promises sparks, but before seeing them again at work here are ten curiosities about these unpredictable stars.
1. FAIR FRIENDSHIP
The relationship between the two has its roots in 1993, when Tina and Amy attended the Chicago ImprovOlimpic Theater, a stage for budding talent as they were both at the time. The artistic partnership, however, really took a turn when they found themselves at Saturday Night Live, the first ever pair of women to conduct, in 2004, a job that earned an Emmy nomination.
2. THE GLOBES OF THE PAST
At the helm of the Golden Globes, the foreign press awards in Hollywood, this couple has already met several times and with excellent results with averages of 20 million viewers at a time. They are so close-knit and loved that they once managed to scrape together 72 thousand dollars at a charity event by giving away an evening together.
3. TO THE CINEMA TOGETHER
These two are not only exceptional on the small screen, as presenters and writers, but also on the big screen, as evidenced by the films that have seen them as protagonists together. It starts from Mean Girls and ends up with Baby Mama, about a woman who hires a surrogate mother to not burn her career. In 2015 it arrives Sisters, where blood ties and serpent relatives are brought up. They never acted in a series together instead: Tina Fey created 30 Rock is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt while Amy Poehler starred for seven seasons at Parks and recreation. Of course, every now and then they go to visit on the set or make some cameos, but that’s all for now.
4. ONE CHAT FOR TWO
In step with the times, these two also opened a chat with mutual friends, a handful of hilarious career women they worked with in Wine Country. The hilarious group includes Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch.
5. JOKES FROM MOMS
To further strengthen this bond, these two have decided they want to become consuocere and often joke about the desire to marry Amy’s two boys (Archie and Abel) to Tina’s two girls (Alice and Penelope). Will they succeed? If the competition for the most coveted statuettes didn’t separate them (four times in Emmy nominations against each other), then anything is possible.
6. TINA ROCKS
Tina Fey made probably the most successful character in the super nerdy alter ego she created in Liz Lemon of 30 Rock. They both seem to have spent years and years playing party games instead of going out on the weekends. It is no coincidence that Liz is the diminutive of Elizabeth, the real name of Tina (diminutive of the middle name Stamatina).

7. AMY, PARKS & THEATERS
In addition to having given away many years of laughter with Parks and recreation, Amy Poehler contributed to the art scene by founding the New York theater called Upright Citizen Brigade. Together with other comedians he has always supported improvisation groups, as he did in the days of Chicago, where he then met Tina Fey.
8. THE MOST FAMOUS GAGS
On the stage of the Golden Globes these two didn’t spare any jokes about anyone. TO Taylor Swift they hinted to stay away from flirting with Michael J. Fox’s son sitting next to her. The reason? The singer-songwriter tends to write sharp songs about her exes! Introducing Leonardo DiCaprio, they invited the audience to give him the same warm welcome as the “vagina of a supermodel”. The Titanic actor reacted with two thumbs up.
And Meryl Streep was told that she is obviously exceptional, but in fact she outperforms the competition also because she is the only one they really do work at her age.
9. AND IF YOU SAY …
There are some memorable phrases of these two. Tina Fey often repeats: “Do what you want and don’t care if others are okay with it or not.” And Amy adds to the dose: “Really great people do things before they feel ready and know they can do them, that’s why it’s worth starting with what scares us and requires risk.”
10. A “FIRST TIME” LOOK
Not only wisdom and irony: in the curriculum of these two there is even the first make-up lesson. Amy said in an interview that it was Tina who did her makeup for the first time teaching her how to do it. And if someone is willing to share beauty secrets with you (in this case also the eyebrow hair removal) then they can be considered a true friend.
