Milan and Lisbon, two cities that by vocation bet on new generations of creatives and sustainable fashion. The partnership between Idee Brand Platform runs along this double track with its Sustainable Brand Platform (SBP) which joins forces with ModaLisboa to support designers who work on sustainability in a more structured way. Sustainable Brand Platform (SBP) is in fact the platform that, through an algorithm of its own creation and blockchain technology, offers an environmental and ethical assessment of emerging brands at an international level, connecting them with buyers. Each brand has its own virtual page on SBP with all the information regarding sustainability and its rating (obtained thanks to a survey and certificates requested from the brand). ModaLisboa | Lisboa Fashion week – born in 1991 – is the most important fashion event in Portugal and represents the springboard for the new generations of Portuguese designers. In 2017 ModaLisboa launched several projects built to raise awareness of a sustainable present and future. He started with Global Fashion Exchange Lisboa, which integrated several sustainable activities such as workshops, networking events and also a Swap market, where it was possible for the public to exchange garments in a circular and sustainable logic. On these premises, the exclusive partnership was born in which Sustainable Brand Platform will support ModaLisboa in its green path, evaluating the brands in terms of sustainability performance, through its own algorithm – called SBP meter.
“We are very proud to join forces with FashionLisboa to support emerging designers to take care of sustainability in their collection – says Alex Albini, CEO of IDEE Brand Platform – The partnership with ModaLisboa is an extraordinary opportunity to select and promote brands with intrinsic design characteristics guided by ethical and sustainable principles. It is also an important collaboration to create a bridge between Milan and Lisbon, expanding the awareness of Portuguese designers through our community of buyers and professionals “.
From Lisbon says Eduarda Abbondanza, President of FashionLisboa: “This is a very important strategic partnership for ModaLisboa, because it not only strengthens our ability to face future challenges, but also offers our designers, who have been working on the subject of sustainability for several years, an official stamp of approval. In such a complex industry, it is important to separate those who are completely reformulating their line of work, their values and their commitment to their community and our planet, from those who are only greenwashing. Thanks to the Sustainable Brand Platform we can expand the international exposure of our designers and show the fashion industry that independent fashion designers in Portugal work every day to generate a positive impact. “
There sustainable fashion it is certainly a growing market but also full of pitfalls in which certified collections are often not considered very creative. And Alex Albini concludes: “By working a lot with emerging and independent brands both in our commercial management activities and in the showroom activity, we have increasingly had a demand from the market (buyers and end consumers) for collections characterized by sustainability contents. However, we have noticed a big gap between what is sustainable and collections with design content. This is why we started thinking about a platform that can support emerging brands, from design content to communicating their level of sustainability. We have been looking for ways to reduce this distance for over a year. The research process got a big boost during the months of lockdown and since then we have launched the first version of the algorithm, of the platform and implemented the blockchain technology, as well as having activated several partnerships for international scouting “.
