Dr. Martens opens 2021 with a new collaboration with the world of art, choosing the unmistakable works of Keith Haring. After the success of the collection DM X Jean-Michel Basquiat (of June 2020), the English brand has chosen another radical artist who has marked the history of art and street culture of the last century.

Haring, a contemporary of Basquiat, had an unparalleled impact on the artistic community, in just 10 years, with his style and innovative approach he literally revolutionized the art world, changing it forever. The artist’s colorful and distinctive graphics, linked to the New York environment, were deeply rooted in social activism. His public works have always questioned authority, while being accessible and optimistic. There has always been more than has ever been seen. And it’s still there. A prolific artist who has spent his life fighting for the oppressed and against conventions, whose legacy continues to be felt.

Even for those who do not know his name or his job. His art is everywhere. On the shirts. On the buildings. Chairs, key rings and badges. And now about Dr. Martens boots and shoes. The collection of shoes and combat boots for men, women and children for 2021 pays tribute to an individual who has lived the mentality of the Dr. Martens world every day.

The silhouettes Original are printed with Haring’s illustrations immediately recognizable and enriched with colored plaques. The 1460 leather combat boots are embellished with graphic details black on the upper. On the heel stands one of Keith Haring’s bold characters. The two proposals for 1461 shoes are made of smooth leather and decorated with the figures that characterize Haring’s art: in one we find an angelic figure in white, while in the other one all-over print with Haring’s iconic characters. To complete the Dr. Martens X Keith Haring collaboration we find the black 1460 boot for children in Hydro soft leather and dedicated to a hybrid dog-bat figure.
