The Inauguration Day 2021 will be characterized by a very dense sequence of events. It will begin at 187.30 with an invocation by the Jesuit priest Leo J. O’Donovan, followed by the reading of the Pledge of Allegiance by Andrea Hall, the first African-American female firefighter to become captain of the fire brigade. It will then be the turn of the National Anthem of the United States sung, for the occasion, by Lady Gaga. In succession then there will be the reading of a poem by 22-year-old Amanda Gorman and then again a performance of Jennifer Lopez and singer Garth Brooks. Finally will come the oaths of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. A curiosity: for his oath Biden will use the Bible of his family (who is 127 years of age) while Kamala Harris has chosen the Bible that belonged to Thurgood Marshall, the first African American judge of the Supreme Court in the history of the States.

No. The anti-pandemic regulations, which the new President took very seriously, “locked” the event (also for fear of possible acts of terrorism). Instead of the usual hundreds of thousands of people, there will be 200,000 flags placed in the street on the National Mall.

No. Or so it would seem. To welcome the new President and the new Vice President, however, there will be other former “colleagues”: Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. A host of stars will also welcome the new president TV show hosted by Tom Hanks with Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake and numerous other stars of the cinema and entertainment.
